What’s your purpose?

Fashion remains a place of comfort for humans if they know it or not. When many people think of fashion, they think of luxury runways and expensive designers. Although that is only one aspect of fashion, in a general sense fashion, applies to any form of getting dressed. Fashion provides distinctive individuality and an expression to all those who wear clothing. Through this, we craft our identity in which we can generate the vision of permanency. In all fashion provides you with complete control to present any message you desire.

Fashion may be a hobby or interest for some although this is a way of living for me. In the future I aspire to be a fashion buyer; this is the individual or small team that decides products for the clothing retailer. This analytical job carefully chooses the clothing sold in the store through trend uprising analysis and predictions. People in this particular field give access to consumers that satisfy the target audience of the retailer. Through the purchasing of clothing, one can construct one identity.

Unlike many other fields that directly help people in the chosen field like doctors or accountants; my major helps bolster confidence and promotes individuality. The qualified buyers are behind the scene reasonably assuring their target audience receives the clothing he or she needs to feel powerful. Modern technology has caused us to connect better than ever before but has also strayed us away from distinct individuality and expression. These two essential values have in a sense diminished through the presence online. Before you would naturally get creative inspiration and try to find something similar or even put your take on it. In the present climate, individuals can suggest a direct link to the garment allowing anyone with wifi to access the retailer. This in a sense naturally produces copies of a similar person when you precisely are 1 of 1.

The VCU Creed, properly states “ To appreciate diversity and to value and learn from the uniqueness of each person.” Which is something essential to my fashion career path. Uniqueness and diversity are the leading cause for change which is something very essential for the fashion-changing career I desire to be in. By appreciating the differences one can learn and open new doors by solely looking from a varied perspective. As a buyer one will help others adequately express their uniqueness through the purchasing of suitable clothing. In addition to helping the consumer build confidence.

I equally value the creed statement “To be open to others’ opinions.”To realistically accomplish anything in life, you must intuitively understand that everyone has their own opinions. When willing to listen eagerly to these opinions you are receptive and often gain a lot more extensive knowledge. Within the fashion industry, there will be many opinions you must take into consideration and generate the most sensible decision from that.

Moral accountability represents a social value I also take very seriously. This can be properly exercised in the modern workplace and even in personal life. Responsibilities or accountabilities are duties you have to deal with, in the workplace, this trait is essential for the company's progression and meeting due dates. The intentional act of following through directly ties into so many of Kitchener's principles this naturally includes trust and benefiting others. Established trust is something undoubtedly gained when those follow through on their fulfilled promises. In addition, you benefit others tremendously by following through on your promises.

When looking at values, it’s hard to choose just one that is needed for the workplace and to make a change. One example is cooperation, within the buyer's job requirement you must meet with whole sellers. These are direct sellers of the manufactured garments, when meeting up with a wholesaler one must discuss the garments presented and see if they want to purchase a large quantity for their store. When efficiently cooperating with a wholesaler the buyer may naturally get intel on other buyers' purchases.

Another important value is engagement, to see or forecast trends for the upcoming season. You must be engaged with social media in addition to individuals everywhere. Inspiration is everywhere although you must be attentive to and engaged to observe it. Forecasting is only effective when you recognize what’s going on around you, and how exactly is that influencing fashion. Through this one will be able to properly stock the store with merchandise desired by the customer. As result, increasing the store's annual income and building up its popularity.

“Practice is the only way you learn,” in order to undoubtedly become the person, you want to be and accomplish your dream you must practice. Failure is just a stepping stone to success; it typically shows you the critical flaws in order for you to practice and try once more. Within the buying industry sometimes your forecast may not be right and that’s okay. By taking that markdown failure, properly analyzing it, and identifying what you did wrong you will progress further than your current standing.

Honesty is a very essential core value of mine. When everything is upfront it saves you the headache and confusion. Honesty is essential as a buyer because you must be upfront whether or not the garment is for your retailer. In addition, you must be honest with yourself and not allow your biases of style to affect what you purchase from the retailer. After all the purchases are for the people and not specifically for you.

In all the career paths of fashion, buyers influence those to be who they want to be. What more effective way to promote individuality than through working directly with th suppliers of the garment in which people construct their desired identity? The buyer's job entails stocking fashion retailers keeping their aesthetic in mind. Whether a person’s style changes yearly or daily the qualified buyer will provide all the necessary materials needed to accomplish their desired look. The desired look will not only make them feel complete but also give them confidence. The change I deliver to the world with my career is the push for individuality and uniqueness in all.
